Financial Education in Venezuela: Bitcoin and Petro Cryptocurrency.
From the creation of the Venezuelan cryptocurrency called petro, and the worldwide boom that bitcoin has at this moment, it is worthwhile that the universities and training centers are oriented to train young professionals so that they can venture into the financial world of bitcoin. Guiding this training in the recognition of the importance of the value of the virtual currency, this can lead to an intelligent consumption. In this sense for Gorjon (2014), he points out that, “virtual currency is a type of unregulated digital money that is issued and usually controlled by its creators, and that is used and accepted by members of a specific virtual community” (p. 78). This currency allows the decentralization of payments between users, eliminating the need for the presence of financial institutions in transactions.
At the same time, this financial education must reach the communities through courses, workshops, forums, so that they can know first-hand how they can invest, and carry out their financial transactions, through these virtual currencies, as Currently, a new business model is being structured, adapted to the new technological and financial needs of consumers. And through which they can recognize the importance and trust that Bitcoin generates by being decentralized from any institution, company, State, or body that controls it. Allowing the existence of a safe and reliable digital currency that favors free economic exchange between people around the world.
In this sense, worldwide the State Department of Business Administration of Information Technology through experts has given lectures on bitcoin in all Chinese universities. In Argentina, the Center for Social and Technological Studies (CESYT), holds courses on Bitcoin and blockchain, 5 Russian universities; Moscow State University, the Higher School of Economics, the State University of Economics of St. Petersburg, the Institute of Physics and Technology of Moscow, and the National University of Science and Technology provide education on cryptocurrencies including bitcoin. The European University Madrid offers an expert degree in bitcoin and blockchain.
In this sense, it is time that in Venezuela the challenge of taking information about bitcoin to the whole community to be assumed, since information and communication technologies have transformed human beings in their interaction with their environment and society; therefore, it is necessary to overcome the current financial model and assume that the Venezuelan Petro came to stay, to transform society, change the financial and economic processes, which requires a financial training process, in this sense, the universities, the training institutions and the State can not turn their backs on it.
