Japan’s leading IT services provider NTT Data has announced plans to launch a new blockchain technology consortium that will include representatives from all industries.
The consortium will launch on August 30, 2017, and aims to investigate cases of use of Blockchain technology. To date, 13 insurance companies, general logistics, import, export and other sectors, have supported the initiative.
NTT Data has actively participated in the Blockchain space. In June, it announced that it has successfully tested Japan’s first prototype of a blockchain-based smart insurance policy and commented on its desire to apply blockchain technology to the entire international trading system.
Among the companies are Kawasaki Kisen Corporation, Sojitz Corporation, Tokio Marine & Nichido Fire Insurance, Toyota Tsusho Corporation, Nippon Express, Mizuho Financial Group, Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance and Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi, among others.
Through this consortium activity, NTT DATA will seek to solve problems in intersectoral business operations and will lead to the practical application of a commercial information collaboration platform using Blockchain technology.
